Walled City:
The Walled City of Lahore, also known as Androon Shehr (Inner City), is the oldest and most historic part of Lahore, Pakistan. Enclosed by 13 gates (originally there were 13, but only a few remain today), this area is filled with centuries-old monuments, vibrant bazaars, narrow alleyways, and a deep cultural and architectural heritage that reflects Lahore’s rich history.
The Walled City dates back to antiquity, with evidence of settlements in the area from the Mughal, Sikh, and British colonial eras. It was once fully enclosed by a fortified wall built during the Mughal period, and the gates provided access to the city. Over time, much of the wall has been lost, but several gates and landmarks remain, giving a glimpse into Lahore’s glorious past.
