Khunjerab Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located on the northern border of Pakistan, connecting it with China. It is part of the Karakoram Range and is notable for being one of the highest paved international border crossings in the world, sitting at an altitude of about 4,693 meters (15,397 feet) above sea level. The pass links Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region with China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and is an essential part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is a significant trade route between the two countries.
The pass is surrounded by stunning landscapes, including snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and expansive valleys. It is part of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), which is a major road connecting Pakistan and China.
Due to its high altitude and dramatic scenery, Khunjerab Pass is also a popular tourist destination. Visitors often travel to witness the breathtaking landscapes, and the pass marks the highest point on the Karakoram Highway.
